Best Homeopathic Medicine for Teething – Treatment in Homeopathy
What is Teething?
Most parents get worried when their sweet little baby suddenly cannot stop crying and needs to be carried all the time. It usually happens when the baby is about 6 months old and the first tooth can appear between 4-6 months. teething is a process of eruption of the milk teeth of the baby through the gums. The time of teething can vary from child to child. There are some cases where it starts at as soon as three months of age. When it starts, the first teeth to appear are two middle teeth in the lower jaw and followed by the two middle teeth in the upper jaw and then followed by the teeth on the sides and back as well.
Some teeth can become more discomfort as compared to the rest of the teeth when the break out. For example, molars take up more surface area and do not break out as easily as smaller teeth that cause prolonged discomfort. In most of the children, all of the milk teeth (20) appear by the age of 2-3 years. Teething for most of the babies is a painful experience and is a good explanation for the changed behavior of the child. Homeopathic remedies for teething can ease the symptoms like swelling and irritability in teething babies.
Symptoms of Teething
In some babies, the teething process is smooth without any pain, complaint or discomfort. For some toddlers, however, teething can be a hard nut to crack. It can cause problems while teething:
- Excessive drooling of saliva (it may cause a mild rash around the mouth)
- Sleeplessness at night
- Swollen, sore, red, tender gums
- Putting fingers in the mouth
- Irritability, crying, fretfulness, cranky behavior, restlessness
- Formation of fluid-filled blister around the erupting tooth
- Decreased intake of feed
- Fever
- Excessive chewing of things
- Diarrhea
Diarrhea and Teething
There is a misconception which is common among the people that teething causes diarrhea. It is not false, in fact, diarrhea is caused because of an infection of the gastrointestinal tract. It is because babies during teething tend to chew on different things to ease the discomfort and can catch an infection from unclean things with ease. Teething also occurs during the phase when a child is being weaned off the milk of the mother. When a child gets new food then it can also cause change in the gut bacteria in the system of the child and cause diarrhea. It means teething does not cause diarrhea but it is the introduction of a pathogen in the child’s gut that results in disturbed bowel movements or diarrhea.
Babies pick up bacteria from different sources because they want to chew on to relieve the symptoms of teething including painful gums or sore gums. Mild fever during teething is a normal condition but high fevers are not. Diarrhea or a very high fever during the phase of teething is entirely unrelated to the process of child’s teething. Frequent diarrhea during teething can also cause dehydration so you need to take care of the baby to see he gets enough milk, clear fluids and water to stay hydrated.

- Rubbing the gums of the baby – With a clean finger, or a slightly wet piece of gauze, gently rub the gums of the baby. Use a gentle pressure to ease discomfort.
- Use a cold compress: A cold compress in the form of a cold, wet cloth, a chilled spoon or a teething ring can help ease the swelling and soreness in teething gums.
